XLIM PRO 4 Introduces OXVA Anti-Burn Technology
The arrival of XLIM PRO 4 marks more than another update to the XLIM PRO series.
Alongside the new device, OXVA introduces ABT — Anti-Burn Tech, an exclusive Anti-Burn system built around Smart Liquid-Level Detection.
Instead of focusing on coil temperature, ABT detects the e-liquid level inside the cartridge. When the liquid level becomes too low, the system can provide a refill alert and stop firing to help prevent an accidental burnt hit.
For XLIM users, this represents a new approach to Anti-Burn protection.
So what exactly is ABT, how is it different from the technology previously used on XLIM Pro 2 DNA, and why does it require a dedicated cartridge?
Let’s take a closer look.

Introducing XLIM PRO 4 — and a New Anti-Burn Approach
One of the biggest changes introduced with XLIM PRO 4 is its new Anti-Burn system.
The device works together with the XLIM ABT Cartridge UNITECH 3.0 to enable ABT protection based on Smart Liquid-Level Detection.
ABT is not simply another device mode. It is a system that depends on the device and cartridge working together.
That also means cartridge compatibility and ABT protection are not the same thing.
XLIM PRO 4 remains part of the wider XLIM pod ecosystem, while the dedicated ABT Cartridge enables the new Anti-Burn function.

Meet OXVA ABT: Smart Liquid-Level Detection
ABT stands for Anti-Burn Tech.
At the centre of the system is Smart Liquid-Level Detection.
Its purpose is straightforward: recognise when the e-liquid inside the cartridge becomes too low and respond before continued firing results in an accidental burnt hit.
ABT is designed to:
- Detect a low e-liquid condition
- Provide a refill alert
- Stop firing to help prevent a burnt hit
- Reduce unnecessary cartridge waste caused by accidental dry firing
In simple terms, ABT helps make the refill point easier to recognise before the cartridge runs too dry.
Anti-Burn Isn’t New to XLIM — But ABT Is Different
XLIM PRO 4 is not the first XLIM device to feature Anti-Burn protection.
The previous XLIM Pro 2 DNA already used an Anti-Burn solution based on temperature-control technology.
What changes with ABT is not the overall goal.
Both systems are designed to help reduce the risk of dry or burnt hits. The main difference is what each system monitors.
| XLIM Pro 2 DNA | OXVA ABT | |
|---|---|---|
| Detection Focus | Coil temperature | E-liquid level |
| Approach | Temperature-based | Liquid-level based |
| Cartridge | XLIM DNA Cartridge | XLIM ABT Cartridge |
| Goal | Help prevent dry hits | Help prevent dry hits |
With DNA, Anti-Burn protection centres on changes in coil temperature.
With ABT, the detection focus moves to the e-liquid level inside the cartridge.
The easiest way to understand the difference is:
DNA monitors the coil.
ABT monitors the liquid.
The goal remains similar, but the way the system identifies the risk has changed.

Why Does ABT Focus on E-Liquid Level?
A cartridge needs enough e-liquid available for normal vaping.
When the remaining liquid becomes too low, continuing to fire can increase the risk of a dry or burnt hit.
ABT focuses directly on recognising that low-liquid condition.
The process is simple:
E-liquid level falls
→ ABT recognises the low-liquid condition
→ Refill alert / protection response
→ Refill and continue
Instead of relying only on the user to notice that the cartridge is nearly empty, Smart Liquid-Level Detection adds another layer of protection before an accidental dry hit occurs.
That is the core idea behind OXVA ABT.

Why PRO 4 and the ABT Cartridge Work Together
ABT is a complete system rather than a feature contained entirely inside the device or cartridge.
The two sides have different roles.
XLIM PRO 4
The device provides the control side of the system and handles the Anti-Burn response.
XLIM ABT Cartridge
The cartridge provides the compatible cartridge structure required for ABT operation.
Together, they enable full Anti-Burn protection.
This also explains why a standard compatible XLIM cartridge can still work normally with XLIM PRO 4 without activating ABT.
Likewise, the XLIM ABT Cartridge can work with other compatible XLIM devices for normal vaping, but ABT protection requires an ABT-enabled device.
Compatibility does not automatically mean ABT protection.

ABT vs UNITECH 3.0: Two Technologies, Different Roles
Because the new cartridge is called XLIM ABT Cartridge UNITECH 3.0, it is easy to assume that ABT and UNITECH 3.0 describe the same technology.
They do not.
ABT = Anti-Burn Protection
ABT is responsible for the Anti-Burn side of the system, including Smart Liquid-Level Detection and the protection response.
UNITECH 3.0 = Cartridge Technology
UNITECH 3.0 is OXVA’s cartridge technology platform, focused on the wider cartridge and vaping experience.
The easiest way to remember the difference is:
ABT = Protection
UNITECH 3.0 = Cartridge Experience
The XLIM ABT Cartridge combines both technologies, but they serve different purposes.
For a deeper look at the cartridge platform, read our What Is OXVA UNITECH 3.0? guide.

What Does This Mean for Existing XLIM Users?
For existing XLIM users, ABT does not mean leaving the wider XLIM ecosystem behind.
XLIM PRO 4 remains compatible with the broader XLIM pod family.
The key difference is whether ABT protection is active.
Using a standard compatible XLIM cartridge
→ Normal XLIM vaping
Using an XLIM ABT Cartridge with an ABT-enabled device
→ ABT Anti-Burn protection
For users coming from XLIM Pro 2 DNA, the change should also be understood correctly.
It is not:
No Anti-Burn → Anti-Burn
It is:
Temperature-based Anti-Burn → Liquid-level-based Anti-Burn
That is the main technology shift introduced with ABT.
Final Thoughts
With XLIM PRO 4, OXVA introduces more than a new generation of device.
The arrival of ABT Anti-Burn Technology also marks a change in how the XLIM family approaches dry-hit protection.
Where XLIM Pro 2 DNA focused on coil temperature, ABT focuses on the e-liquid level inside the cartridge.
Combined with the dedicated XLIM ABT Cartridge, it creates a device-and-cartridge Anti-Burn system while keeping users within the wider XLIM ecosystem.
The key difference is simple:
DNA monitors the coil.
ABT monitors the liquid.
